You are such a Doll is an artwork that I made purely for the purpose of how it made me feel, I created it so I could deepen the uneasiness that this idea brought in me.

The incubation period for this artwork was about 6 months. The first time the idea came to me in November, I was talking to a friend about art, and I suddenly had this overwhelming idea.

DOLLHOUSE BUT ITS A STRIPCLUB

We brainstormed a little, I wrote everything down and let the idea rest. It came to me a month ago when I started my weekly artwork challenge.
I felt like this was still, after half a year, a concept worthy of being created. It begged for my attention. And so I listened.

How often we embark on journeys that lead us far from innocence, down paths we'd never want our past selves to see?
How often we end up in situations that we would have screamed to escape from as children?

You are such a Doll shows two different points in life of one human being. Two points in life of one woman with a little girl in her heart.

This story isn't the happiest.

A road paved with misfortune, and maybe a few questionable choices, led her down to a place that favours no one. To a place of grit, dirt, and vice.
Every day, she's someone's Sweetheart. someone's Honey. Someone's Sugar plum.
She gets called by hundreds of names. Does thousands of things that she hates.
And every day feels longer than the one before.

Here, she's not daddy's little girl.

Except, somewhere in her heart, she still is.
And all she ever wanted was to live a good and happy life. To live in a real world dollhouse, with a car, a dog, and maybe a happy family.
